Statement with racial breakdown of SPM results fake, says ministry

The viral statement is '101% incorrect' and ‘definitely not true', says deputy education minister Wong Kah Woh.

SEPANG:
A purported press statement with a breakdown of the 2025 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results by race is fake, says deputy education minister Wong Kah Woh.

He said the ministry did not issue the statement and the information was not part of the official results announced yesterday.

“What has gone viral is 101% incorrect. That is definitely not true,” he told reporters after a working visit to SJK(T) Dengkil here today.

Wong was responding to a viral press statement bearing the ministry’s logo that has been circulating on social media since yesterday showing student achievement percentages by race.

The statement included an analysis claiming that Malay SPM candidates had a lower pass percentage last year compared with Chinese and Indian students.
