JOHOR BAHRU:
The number of evacuees due to flash floods in the district has doubled to 86 people, involving 29 families this morning, from 43 people last night, forcing another relief centre (PPS) to be opened.

The Johor Bahru district disaster management committee said the PPS at SK Mutiara was opened to accommodate the 43 new flood victims from 17 families, who were evacuated from Kampung Pasir, Kampung Kangkar Tebrau and Kampung Kenangan.

“It rained heavily for more than two hours yesterday and caused several houses (in the district) to be flooded at about 3pm,” it said in a statement today.

Last night, a total of 43 residents from 12 families were evacuated to the PPS at Kampung Melayu Batu 10 community hall after their houses in Kampung Laut Batu 10 were flooded.
