
KAJANG: Najib Razak has arrived at the Kajang prison to serve his 12-year sentence after the apex court affirmed his conviction earlier today.
The former prime minister arrived at 6.05pm and was escorted by police.
He had left the Palace of Justice at 5.30pm.
Meanwhile, the entrance to the prison was heavily guarded and a roadblock was set up to prevent the public from entering the compound.
Police were also seen controlling traffic heading towards the prison entrance.
A crowd was also spotted gathering at the road leading to the prison, but was later told to disperse.
Najib was sentenced to 12 years’ jail and fined RM210 million after he was convicted on seven charges brought against him for abuse of power, money laundering and criminal breach of trust over SRC International funds amounting to RM42 million.
