PETALING JAYA: A labourer will stand trial in the Kota Kinabalu sessions court from Sept 2 to 4 on a charge of sexually assaulting his 13-year-old stepdaughter.
Judge Amir Shah Amir Hassan fixed the trial dates during pre-trial case management, Borneo Post reported.
The 46-year-old was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and caning, upon conviction.
He is accused of touching the victim’s breasts at a house in Papar at about midnight on March 6.
The accused was previously released on bail of RM6,000 with two local sureties.
Deputy public prosecutor Bryan Francis appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was represented by lawyer Rakhbir Singh.
