ALOR SETAR: A man who allegedly murdered his three-month-old baby boy at Kampung Teluk Jawa in Padang Hang on Monday had eight past criminal offences, including for drug-related offences.
Kedah police chief Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad said the 28-year-old suspect, who was arrested on the same day, has been remanded until Oct 17.
He said the suspect was believed to have been involved in drug abuse for the past two to three years.
Wan Hassan also said the man’s two other children, aged five and one, who were being cared for by other family members, had been sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for a medical examination.
Yesterday, Kota Setar district police chief Ahmad Shukri Mat Akhir said the police received a call on the discovery of a baby’s body in a house on Monday and arrested the biological father in the backyard.
He said the man tested positive for methamphetamine.
