PASIR GUDANG:
Water supply to thousands of households hit by unscheduled cuts was finally restored this morning, six days after a pipe burst.

Water supply will be restored in stages as the Sultan Iskandar treatment centre had only resumed operations at 4am.

The state’s water authority, Ranhill Syarikat Air Johor (SAJ) Sdn Bhd, said the burst pipe in Bandar Seri Alam here was finally repaired at 4am.

“Water supply will be restored in stages. We will keep people notified about the progress from time to time,” it said in a Facebook post.

The unscheduled water cut hit several areas in Pasir Gudang on Friday, while a landslide in the area hindered repair works.

About 100,000 households were affected by the cuts, with Ranhill SAJ dispatching water tankers to affected areas from time to time.

Netizens had sought the help of the Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, popularly known as TMJ, who responded by saying that he had contacted all relevant authorities to help the consumers and monitor the situation closely.
