PETALING JAYA:
The irrigation and drainage department (DID) has issued a notice urging people to prepare for possible floods in Terengganu and Pahang.

According to Bernama, the DID said floods are likely if there continues to be a significant amount of rainfall in the Sungai Besut Valley and Sungai Rompin.

In a statement issued late last night, it said this was based on its flood forecasting model’s simulations and after the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued continuous severe rainfall warnings in the afternoon yesterday.

The department said the area surrounding Kampung Buluh Nipis in Rompin, Pahang faced a risk of flooding from 5pm, while Kampung Kubang Rambutan, Kampung Bagus, Kampung Degung and Kampung Telaga in Pasir Mas, Kelantan could see floods at 2pm.

It said this notice of preparedness was to keep residents on guard for possible floods.
