PH, BN ‘playing nice’ sign of possible pact, says Muhyiddin

The Perikatan Nasional chairman says Anwar Ibrahim did not attack Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on his court cases while campaigning in Bagan Datuk.

There has been speculation that Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional will join forces to form the next government although the claims have been rubbished by leaders of both coalitions.
PAGOH:
Speculation that Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) have a “secret arrangement” to form the next government has been further fuelled by the lack of personal attacks between the coalitions’ leaders, Muhyiddin Yassin said.

The PN chairman said such talk had intensified following Anwar Ibrahim’s campaign in Bagan Datuk where the PH chief did not attack Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on his corruption charges.

Zahid will be defending the parliamentary seat on Nov 19.

The BN chairman is standing trial on charges of money laundering and criminal breach of trust involving millions from Yayasan Akalbudi and for accepting bribes for various projects during his tenure as the home minister.

“I too wondered why Anwar did not touch on this (Zahid’s court cases). Does this mean that there is an agreement (between the two coalitions) to join forces if they cannot secure enough seats (to form the next government)?

“I heard that Zahid wants to join forces with Anwar,” Muhyiddin said while campaigning in Kampung Jawa here.

Muhyiddin also said Anwar had attacked him although he was not facing any court charges, yet was mum when it came to Umno leaders.

BN and PH leaders have previously rubbished claims of such an alliance.

Separately, Muhyiddin said PH leaders were attacking his coalition as they realised that PN was gaining ground.

“Anwar is worried with the support PN is receiving. He doesn’t look too happy,” Muhyiddin said, adding that the PKR president’s recent jibe that he was the “father of MCO” was likely due to the coalition’s increasing popularity.
