PETALING JAYA:
PAS has thanked Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim for inviting Perikatan Nasional to join his unity government, saying the matter will be discussed among the PN component parties.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the party will also monitor the views of voters on the matter as they showed strong support for the Islamic party and PN in the general election.

“PAS also congratulates Anwar on his appointment as Malaysia’s 10th prime minister,” he said in a statement.

Takiyuddin expressed gratitude that the political impasse had been resolved in a peaceful manner, saying PAS accepted Anwar’s appointment with an open heart.

He thanked the Yang di-Pertuan Agong for exercising his discretion according to the constitution in appointing Anwar to the top post.

Yesterday, Anwar confirmed that his unity government comprised Pakatan Harapan,  Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Parti Sarawak, with support from MPs from Muda, Warisan and Parti Bangsa Malaysia.

He did not rule out the possibility that other parties may also join his government, saying he welcomed Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and PN to be a part of it.
