Cops probe alleged abuse at motivation camp

KUALA LUMPUR:
Police have received four reports from parents of students who attended a motivation camp in Serdang, Selangor, over alleged abuse by the camp facilitators.

The students claimed that one of them was choked and pushed and hit with a broom.

Serdang district police chief A Anbalagan said police were investigating the case under Section 31 of the Child Act 2001 after the reports were lodged on Tuesday.

“All the parties, including the organisers of the motivation camp, will be called to facilitate the investigation,” he told Bernama.

According to a report by a news portal, about 60 Year Five students who attended a two-day camp run by a non-governmental organisation returned home weak and crying, and claimed that the participants had been badly treated.
