PETALING JAYA:
Amanah vice-chief Mujahid Yusof Rawa has sued PAS for defamation after the Islamist party alleged that he supports the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community.

Takiyuddin Hassan as PAS secretary-general is named in the suit as the defendant.

Mujahid was the religious affairs minister in the Pakatan Harapan government of 2018-2020.

The suit is over a posting on Oct 16 last year which alleged that Mujahid’s meeting with transgender welfare activist Nisha Ayub in 2018 was aimed at “garnering support” for the LGBT community.

Mujahid seeks damages, an order to delete the posting, and his picture in the posting, as well as a public apology. He also seeks an injunction against further publication.
