PETALING JAYA: Dr Akmal Saleh has thrown his hat into the ring to succeed Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki as Umno Youth leader.
The Jasin Umno Youth chief submitted his application form to Umno headquarters at Menara Dato Onn in Kuala Lumpur this evening.
“I have submitted the form to run for the Umno Youth chief’s post this evening,” he wrote in a Facebook post.
Umno Youth secretary Hasmuni Hassan and Subang Umno chief Armand Azha Abu Hanifah had announced earlier that they will be contesting for the post.
Umno’s elections are being held from Feb 1 to March 18. Branch-level elections are being held from Feb 1 to 26, followed by the elections for the Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings at the national level on March 11.
The divisional elections as well as contests for seats on the Umno Supreme Council will be held on March 18.
