KUALA LUMPUR:
Former prime minister Muhiyiddin Yassin has arrived at the Kuala Lumpur court complex, where he is slated to be charged with corruption.

The Bersatu president arrived at about 8.40am and was greeted by supporters, who had gathered outside the court complex since about 8am.

About 100 people were already there by 8.30am, with most of them donning white shirts with Muhyiddin’s face and the words “Kami Bersama Abah” (We are with Abah).

“Abah” refers to the moniker that Muhyiddin had been referred to when he was the prime minister.

The supporters then started chanting “Long live Abah” and “Destroy Pakatan Harapan”.

Pahang Perikatan Nasional chief Saifuddin Abdullah was also spotted entering the court complex.

Muhyiddin was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at 1pm yesterday in connection with the agency’s probe into the Jana Wibawa programme.

The PN chairman was allowed to leave after more than nine hours at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.

He has maintained that the charges expected to be brought against him were political in nature and meant to tarnish his reputation and the image of Bersatu and PN.

Tasek Gelugor MP and former Bersatu information chief Wan Saiful Wan Jan and Segambut deputy chief Adam Radlan Adam Muhammad had earlier been charged with corruption in connection with the Jana Wibawa programme.
