KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat has unanimously passed a voice vote to elect Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah) as Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman.
She is the second woman to head the PAC, the first being former Parit Sulong MP Noraini Ahmad.
The PAC was previously led by Wong Kah Woh, who was the Ipoh Timur MP, and his deputy was former Beaufort MP Azizah Dun. He is now the MP for Taiping.
Meanwhile, Wong Shu Qi (PH-Kluang) was voted in as the new deputy chairman of the PAC.
Apart from the chairman and deputy chairman, the committee will include six to 12 members who will be nominated by a selection committee to be established.
The PAC looks at the accounts of the federation and the appropriation of the sums granted by Parliament to meet public expenditure.
