PETALING JAYA:
An aide to human resources minister V Sivakumar has been suspended with pay while two others have returned to work after their arrests by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in an investigation into recruitment of foreign workers.

A source close to the matter told FMT that the suspended aide is on the payroll of the social security organisation (Socso) and his suspension was in accordance with procedure.

Another source confirmed that two aides have returned to work. “The first officer who was arrested is still not back yet,” the source told FMT.

The three aides had been arrested a week ago and held in custody until Monday, when the remand period expired.

Checks by FMT on the ministry’s website showed that the names of the three aides had been restored to the staff list after being removed on April 16.

Sivakumar was also called up by MACC to give a statement last week. He said at the time that he was not a suspect in the case.

FMT has reached out to Sivakumar’s office and Socso for comment.
