In a written parliamentary reply, Saifuddin said investigations were still ongoing to determine the method.

“With the arrests made in Australia, police found that there are Malaysian syndicate members involved.

“Police have also identified the company and individuals, and investigations are still going on,” he said in response to a question from Tanah Merah MP Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz.

On March 13, Australian federal police seized a 336kg consignment of heroin, with an estimated street value of A$268 million (RM790 million). It was believed to have been smuggled out of Port Klang to Brisbane.

The bust was reported to be the second largest of its kind in Australian history.

The drugs were hidden in two concrete blocks, each weighing about 500kg and marked as solar panel accessories, inside a sea freight container, Australian police said.

Officers drilled into the concrete blocks and removed 960 packages, each containing about 350g of heroin.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim voiced his displeasure over the incident and called on the authorities to investigate the matter urgently.
