Abang Johari, who is also the Sarawak premier, said GPS leaders only showed up on nomination day to support Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates on the principle of supporting the unity government.
“We will not send our (election) machinery. I was there (on nomination day) as a sign of our support for the unity government.
“What’s more important is political stability and to implement the policies that would set the course for Malaysia,” he said, according to Utusan Malaysia.
He was asked if GPS’ election machinery would be deployed to help PH and BN campaign for the elections.
Abang Johari and Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor had joined Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on nomination day last Saturday in Selayang and Ampang, Selangor.
BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had urged GPS leaders to help the coalition and PH in their election campaign in the six states.
GPS parliamentary chief Fadillah Yusof previously said the Sarawak ruling coalition would remain neutral and not take part in election campaigns in other states.
The Sarawak coalition later agreed to support, but said only its federal ministers and deputy ministers would be involved.
