Public holiday in Kedah tomorrow if PN retains state

Kelantan and Terengganu have also 'declared' a public holiday regardless of the outcome of today's elections.

Sanusi Nor said tomorrow will be a public holiday in Kedah if PN forms the new state government.
PETALING JAYA:
Caretaker Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor says tomorrow will be a public holiday if Perikatan Nasional wins enough seats to retain the state government.

“The Kedah state government will announce a public holiday on Sunday if PN successfully forms the government on Aug 12,” he said in a statement.

The two other states previously governed by PN – Kelantan and Terengganu – have declared that they will enjoy a public holiday tomorrow regardless of the outcome of the elections.

In a statement last night, caretaker Terengganu menteri besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said this is to make it easier for voters who live in Terengganu to travel to vote in any of the other five states.

Kelantan’s caretaker menteri besar Ahmad Yakob also said the holiday on Sunday was to ease matters for Kelantanese and EC workers.

The working week in Kelantan and Terengganu is from Sunday to Thursday.

In Selangor, caretaker menteri besar Amirudin Shari yesterday promised to declare Monday a public holiday in the state if Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional win the state election.

Caretaker Penang chief minister Chow Kon Yeow said he had no plans to declare Monday a public holiday, while his Negeri Sembilan counterpart, Aminuddin Harun, said a decision on the matter would only be made once the election results are in tonight.
