In a statement, AmanahRaya announced that Idrus’s appointment comes into effect today.
Idrus, a former solicitor-general, was a Federal Court judge before being made the attorney-general in 2020.
Having served as attorney-general under three prime ministers, his contract ended last month.
“In his over 42 years of experience, he served as a deputy public prosecutor in several departments such as the customs department and the prosecution division of the Attorney-General’s Chambers,” the company said.
“He had also served as Terengganu’s state legal adviser, the Election Commission and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s senior federal counsel, as well as a parliamentary draftsman.
“With his wealth of experience and judicial excellence, AmanahRaya is confident that Idrus will continue to propel AmanahRaya to greater heights.”
