KUALA LUMPUR:
An unemployed man was charged in the magistrates’ court here today with murdering his friend during a quarrel earlier this month.

Armin Amir, 28, nodded after the charge was read out before magistrate Illi Marisqa Khalizan.

No plea was recorded because the offence is under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Armin stands accused of killing Amir Azlan Iwan, 22, in the back alley of a row of shops in Jalan Peel at 3.20am on Feb 1.

He was charged with murder under the Penal Code, and faces the possibility of the death penalty upon conviction, or up to 40 years in prison.

The court set April 3 for case mention pending the autopsy report.

Deputy public prosecutor Zuhairi Osman appeared for the prosecution, while lawyer Evie Melynda Jee represented the accused.
