Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the duo, aged 23 and 40, were picked up in Kajang yesterday.
He also revealed that the 42-year-old victim had committed 10 drug-related criminal offences and was wanted by Seremban police for a drug offence.
“The post-mortem found that he tested positive for methamphetamine and cannabis,” he told the media at the district police headquarters here.
He added that the pathologist’s preliminary examination showed that there were no visible wounds that led to the victim’s death.
However, he said that Serdang Hospital had yet to determine the victim’s cause of death.
Hussein said two car owners had lodged a report concerning an accident involving the victim.
Kajang police chief Zaid Hassan previously said that the incident was believed to have started following a crash involving a car driven by the victim.
According to Zaid, initial investigations found that the victim’s vehicle crashed into a fence in a residential area. Police also said it is believed that the victim was pulled out of his car, had his hands tied, and was subsequently assaulted.
He was found lying in the middle of the road near his car.
Zaid said the case is being investigated for murder under the Penal Code. Traffic police have also opened an investigation for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has urged the public to stop sharing any video of the incident and to also delete it from their devices, warning of legal action under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA).
The section criminalises content that is “obscene, indecent, false, menacing or offensive in character with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass another person”. An offence under the section is punishable with up to one-year imprisonment, a fine up to RM50,000, or both, upon conviction.
