In a statement today, it said it had not uploaded any English content on its official Facebook page.

The word “junjung kasih” was translated to “condolences” in the text.

“The translation error displayed on RTM’s Facebook page was auto-translated by Facebook itself. Translated English texts will appear if users activate the translation function,” RTM said.

“The translated text by Facebook is inaccurate and RTM did not upload any content using the word ‘condolences’ pertaining to the installation ceremony of the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong.”

Earlier, communications minister Fahmi Fadzil also clarified that the translation mistake was made by Facebook and urged people to stop sharing the post.

RTM said it has lodged a police report over the matter and contacted Facebook’s parent company Meta regarding the error.

“Meta has acknowledged the issue and corrected the mistranslation,” it said.
