GEORGE TOWN:
Deputy chief minister Jagdeep Singh Deo clocked in for work this afternoon, two days before his extended medical leave ended.

“I am a workaholic. I can’t just sit in the hospital and do nothing,” he told FMT when met at the launch of Enovix Corporation’s manufacturing plant.

He said he had dropped by his office yesterday.

The Datok Keramat assemblyman, who went on leave on July 22, was initially scheduled to return to work on Aug 5.

He however requested for a four-day extension based on his doctor’s advice, which chief minister Chow Kon Yeow granted.

Today, Jagdeep said work was important and he “could not stay away from it”.

“So, here I am. Look at me, do I look all right?” he said,

Jagdeep previously told FMT he was in Negeri Sembilan to seek a second opinion for an ankle injury, which he said had caused him chronic pain for several months.

He said he was also seeking treatment in Kuala Lumpur for a case of psoriasis, a skin condition that causes flaky patches to appear across the body.

Enovix Corporation, which is involved in high-performance battery technology, plans to invest a total of US$1.2 billion (RM5.8 billion) in Malaysia over the next 15 years.
