PETALING JAYA:
A 14-year-old boy in Kajang, Selangor, died after collapsing while playing football on Saturday, say police.

Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said the boy suddenly collapsed during a match before being rushed to a nearby clinic and then Kajang Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2.02pm.

An autopsy found that the teenager had heart complications and asthma, he said in a statement.

Naazron added that a football coach had lodged a report on the incident in the evening. The case has been classified as sudden death.

“We advise parents to conduct health checkups on their children before allowing them to participate in a sports competition or activity to avoid untoward incidents,” he said.
