The price of RON97 was last week reduced by 15 sen from RM3.40 to RM3.25 per litre.
The ministry said the price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia will also be reduced by six sen from RM3.01 to RM2.95 per litre.
The price of RON95 will stay at RM2.05 per litre while diesel will continue to retail at RM2.15 per litre in East Malaysia.
These prices will remain in effect until Sept 25.
In a statement, the ministry pointed out that this meant Putrajaya had lowered the price of diesel in West Malaysia by 40 sen since August, and RON97 by 28 sen nationwide, thanks to fluctuations in global crude oil prices.
It said the government would continue to monitor global crude oil price trends and take appropriate measures to ensure the people’s continued welfare and well-being.
