“Perhaps my successor will revise it to Penang 2050 vision instead.
“It is important to ensure that we achieve what we have planned,” he said during the launch of the Penang 2030 Festival at Komtar.
Chow highlighted how Penang 2030, which he launched in 2018 just months after taking over as chief minister, made him realise the importance of implementing “green and smart” economic development.
He said Penang 2030 has achieved 73% of its targets so far, including the implementation of 373 projects and programmes.
On Sept 4, Chow, who has been chief minister for the past six years, announced he would not defend the state DAP chairmanship he has held for the past 25 years.
The Batu Kawan MP said he would yield the post to the delegates as part of a succession plan ahead of the next general election but would remain the party’s national vice-chairman.
DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said Chow would continue to serve as chief minister despite his decision not to contest tomorrow’s state party elections.
