PETALING JAYA:
National singles shuttler Lee Zii Jia staged a major upset at the BWF World Tour Finals when he shocked top seed and world No 2 Anders Antonsen tonight.

The world No 8 took 46 minutes to beat Antonsen 21-14, 21-19 and book his berth in the semi-finals of the season finale at Hangzhou, China.

This marks the fifth time that he has defeated the Dane in their nine meetings so far. The victory leaves the Olympics bronze medallist in a strong position to top Group A.

His final group match is against China’s world No 6 Li Shi Feng, who lost to Antonsen yesterday.

Fans are hoping for at least one title from Hangzhou as no Malaysian player or pair have won a title in the World Tour Finals since the tournament’s inception in 2018.
