Describing Musa as a unifying figure, Hajiji said Musa plays a vital role in fostering unity and harmony within Sabah’s diverse society.
“The esteemed institution of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri will always be revered as a cornerstone of unity and a proud symbol of Sabah’s sovereignty,” he said at Musa’s swearing-in ceremony at Istana Seri Kinabalu here today.
On Dec 17, Musa received his letter of appointment as Sabah governor from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, at Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur. His term begins today and will run until Dec 31, 2028.
Musa succeeds Juhar Mahiruddin, who concluded his tenure on Dec 31 after serving four terms since Jan 1, 2011.
In his speech at Musa’s swearing-in ceremony, Hajiji reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to driving development in Sabah.
Sabah recorded a significant increase in revenue, collecting nearly RM7 billion last year, thanks to effective financial management, said Hajiji.
He attributed the achievement to the dedication and hard work of the state’s leadership and civil service.
“The government prioritises the people’s welfare by implementing various programmes, initiatives, and assistance, particularly for the needy and hardcore poor,” Hajiji added.
He said these advancements align with the goals of the Sabah Maju Jaya roadmap which was launched nearly four years ago.
Hajiji added that the state government is committed to preserving Sabah’s natural resources, safeguarding cultural heritage and traditions, maintaining it’s longstanding unity and harmony, and prioritising public safety to ensure the people’s continued well-being.
