“We urge all parents and families to make any complaints directly to the education ministry online via the Aduan Buli portal,” Fadhlina told reporters at the ministry’s office here.
Her comments follow a Sinar Harian report earlier today that a victim’s father, only known as Husin, had complained to the school and the education ministry regarding the bullying, but had not received any reply.
Two former fully residential school students were previously reported as claiming they were subjected to severe bullying, having been forced to execute rigorous “commando rests” (or “pacak kepala”).
The “commando rest” is a planking move that involves supporting oneself only with the head and feet on the ground, with legs straightened and arms held behind the back.
According to a New Straits Times report, the ex-students also claimed there were gangs operating within the school, with names such as 6 Jahanam, 6 Azazil and 7 Malaikat Maut.
Fadhlina reiterated that the ministry will not tolerate any bullying and would act on complaints by the public.
She reminded principals and school management staff to follow set procedures and ensure appropriate steps and actions were taken to address such complaints.
Fadhlina also warned school authorities not to cover up bullying cases.
