Six people believed to be from the same family were found dead in a car pulled from Sungai Korok, near Jitra, this morning.

Kedah fire and rescue department zone 1 head Ahmad Aminuddin Abd Rahim said the six comprised a man, a woman, three children, and one infant.

He said the department received an emergency call about the car in the river at 8.38am.

“We were told that a Proton Iswara sedan was floating in the river,” he said in a statement.

He said firemen retrieved the car and found six bodies inside. The process of identifying the victims is ongoing.

Yesterday, Bernama reported that six members of a family who could not be contacted since last Saturday had been reported missing.

Mohd Azim Ezzat Ishak, 32, his wife Nurul Hidayah Khalijah Razman Effendy, 31, and their four children, aged between six months and nine years, were reported missing after failing to return home after spending the night at a relative’s house in Taman Aman, Jitra.
