PUTRAJAYA:
Dozens of supporters greeted Najib Razak as he arrived at the Palace of Justice at about 8.30am today, some chanting “Free Bossku” in a reference to the former prime minister.

They had gathered as early as 6am, while several political figures, including former law minister Zaid Ibrahim, Umno secretary-general Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh, and Supreme Council member Mahdzir Khalid were also present.

The Federal Court is scheduled to deliver its decision today on whether the attorney-general may appeal against the leave granted to Najib to pursue judicial review proceedings aimed at enforcing a former king’s house arrest decree.

A three-member bench, led by Chief Judge of Malaya Hasnah Hashim and comprising Federal Court judges Zabariah Yusof and Hanipah Farikullah, will deliver the ruling.

Najib, who was convicted of misappropriating RM42 million in SRC International Sdn Bhd funds, has been serving his sentence at Kajang prison since Aug 23, 2022. He filed a petition for a royal pardon on Sept 2, 2022.

The Federal Territories Pardons Board later halved his prison term from 12 years to six and reduced his fine from RM210 million to RM50 million.
