PETALING JAYA: The government has decided to give a 50% discount on toll charges in conjunction with the Deepavali celebrations.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the toll discounts will be in effect on Oct 18 and 19.
Separately, works minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said the 50% discount will be effective from 12.01am on Oct 18 and will end at 11.59pm on Oct 19.
It will only apply to Class 1 private vehicles and will not apply to tolls at the country’s borders.
It will also apply to Class 2 vehicles crossing the Penang bridge toll plazas.
Nanta said it will cost the government about RM19.86 million to compensate highway concessionaires.
