Police corporal dies 9 months after hit-and-run

Fairus Khamis was left in a coma after the incident in June 2025, while the suspect had yet to be caught as of September.

Police corporal Fairus Khamis died early this morning, more than nine months after being involved a hit-and-run in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

In a Facebook post, the Negeri Sembilan police force said that Fairus, who had been in a coma, breathed his last at 6.10am at his home in Seremban.

Representing the state contingent, Negeri Sembilan police chief Alzafny Ahmad conveyed his condolences to Fairus’s family.

Fairus was riding his motorcycle at about 7.55am on June 2, 2025 when he was sideswiped by an unidentified vehicle, causing him to lose control and crash.

He suffered broken ribs as well as internal bleeding in the head, which required immediate surgery.

His wife, Rozalina Jaafar, previously said her husband had to undergo five surgeries in total while half of his skullcap had to be removed, Sinar Harian reported.

Three months after the incident, Rozalina said the driver involved in the hit-and-run had yet to be found.
