Singaporean duo fined RM1,000 each for littering

PETALING JAYA:
The Johor Bahru sessions court today fined two Singaporean men RM1,000 each and ordered them to perform six hours of community service within six months for littering by discarding cigarette butts in a public area.

According to Kosmo, judge Che Wan Zaidi Che Wan Ibrahim handed down the sentences to architect Lim Hu Shen and project manager Tan Boon Haw, both 31.

They face one month’s imprisonment if they do not pay their fines.

Lim and Tan were charged under Section 77A of the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007 for committing the offence at the entrance of a shopping mall in Johor Bahru between 11.02am and 11.11am on Jan 3.

The prosecution was conducted by SWCorp prosecuting officer Rubiah Maulud while the two men were unrepresented.
