PETALING JAYA:
The immigration department has arrested a Korean man wanted in his home country in connection with a cheating case involving 3.5 billion won, or approximately RM9.4 million.

The 49-year-old, who was arrested at a house in the upscale Horizon Hills residential area in Johor Bahru, was found to be using a false student pass.

Johor immigration director Rusdi Darus said the man lived in the house with his Chinese national wife and their two sons, aged 12 and 20. He had also employed a Filipino as a cleaner.

“The Korean man failed to furnish legitimate identification documents while checks found that he and the Filipino cleaner, 55, had overstayed in Malaysia.

“They were both detained and remanded for 14 days for further investigation,” Rusdi said in a statement.
