Retiree jailed 7 days for secretly taking photos of female lawyer’s thigh

SELAYANG:
The magistrates’ court here has sentenced a retiree to seven days in prison for secretly taking inappropriate pictures of a female lawyer.

Magistrate Mahmoodah VM Abdul Latiff handed down the sentence to S Anandhan after he pleaded guilty to the charge under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the victim’s modesty.

The court also fined the retiree RM4,000 or six months’ jail in default of payment.

According to the facts of the case, the victim was dining at a restaurant in Rawang on April 8 when Anandhan took pictures of her thigh from a distance.

She later lodged a police report on the incident, saying she had been traumatised by the incident and required therapy following the experience.

Deputy public prosecutor Hafiz Aiman Badrisham appeared for the prosecution, while lawyer V Kumar represented Anandhan.
