GEORGE TOWN:
A man was seriously injured after falling from the fifth floor of a block of flats at Taman Seri Perak in Jelutong onto the roof of the building’s first floor this evening.

The Penang fire and rescue department said an eight-man team was sent to the scene at about 7pm.

Operations commander Akmal Nasujan said they rescued the unconscious man, aged 53, from the roof and handed him over to medical officers, who sent him to a nearby hospital.

“The victim is believed to have been suffering from a mental illness, according to his mother,” said Akmal in a statement.
