Newborn girl found abandoned near JB surau

A passerby alerted the police after hearing the baby cry.

A newborn girl was found alive at the car park of a surau in Taman Universiti, Skudai, last Saturday.

Johor Bahru Utara police chief Radin Ramlan Radin Taha said police received a report at about 7.30pm from a passerby, who heard a baby crying, Bernama reported.

“The baby girl was found wrapped in a towel. Her umbilical cord was still intact,” he said in a statement today.

Radin Ramlan said the baby was taken to Hospital Sultanah Aminah for treatment and is in a stable condition.

Earlier, a video posted on the Threads app by user “shahirramohdtalha” went viral, claiming that his brother-in-law had found the baby, wrapped only in a green towel.
