Samsuri said the election was not merely a political contest but an opportunity to outline its solutions to key issues such as the cost of living, unemployment and administrative integrity.
“PN will enter this election with responsibility, maturity and professionalism, placing the interests of the people as our foremost priority.
“I also urge PN’s campaign machinery to avoid any form of excessive provocation, hate politics and divisiveness. Instead, they should present a calmer, fact-based and solution-orientated approach to politics,” he said in a statement.
The PAS vice-president’s remarks come amid tensions between PN’s two main component parties — PAS and Bersatu.
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang had earlier warned that the party’s patience with Bersatu “has limits”, stating it had been evaluating Bersatu’s conduct “one by one”, citing friction over the political situation in Negeri Sembilan and Perlis.
Despite the internal discord, Johor PN chairman Sahruddin Jamal has insisted that both parties would move together in the election, with PN targeting all 56 state seats.
The Johor election must be held within the next 60 days, following today’s dissolution of the state assembly.
Barisan Nasional won 40 of the 56 seats in the last state election in 2022, with Pakatan Harapan claiming 12, PN three and Muda one.
BN, PH and PN have each said they will be contesting all 56 seats.
