PETALING JAYA:
Police have launched an investigation after a car driven by a policeman crashed into a boy at KM33 of Jalan Kampung Bukit Nikmat in Jerantut, Pahang.

Jerantut police chief Azahari Mukhtar said a report on the incident was lodged on March 23, involving a Proton Waja being driven by the cop from Jerantut to Bukit Nikmat.

Azahari said the car was going straight while two boys were playing at the side of the road.

“Suddenly, one of the boys ran towards the car and was hit. He was rushed to Jerantut Hospital’s emergency department before being transferred to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh for further treatment,” he said in a statement.

The case is being investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act for careless driving while the police integrity and standard compliance department is conducting its own probe for possible misconduct by the policeman.
