PETALING JAYA:
Police are investigating an incident where a 17-year-old girl was allegedly assaulted by a male student at a school in Johor Bahru, leaving her with a neck injury that required hospital treatment.

Johor Bahru Utara police chief Radin Ramlan Radin Taha said the girl’s father filed a report on Saturday, a day after the alleged incident, Berita Harian reported.

The girl, identified only as Nurul, said the incident occurred at about noon when she was walking in the school field with a friend.

She said a male student approached her and asked her a question before kicking her from behind. This caused her to fall and hit her head on a piece of wood.

“I also hurt my knee. When I got back up, he kicked me again, grabbed my waist and pushed me until I fell,” she was quoted as saying.

Nurul said she felt dizzy and was taken to the school’s treatment room, where she vomited.

After being allowed to go home, she nearly collapsed on a pedestrian bridge near the school.

A friend brought her to her home nearby before contacting her father, who took her to Sultanah Aminah Hospital.

Nurul said she had been receiving treatment at the hospital since then and was still experiencing pain at the back of her neck.

She said she found it difficult to sit, stand or walk normally.

“The doctor said I had suffered a ligament tear, but there was no fracture,” she said.

Her 41-year-old father hoped the school management and the state education department would take appropriate action.
