Zakir Fikry Zainal, 20, was found lying face down and covered in blood at Ladang Merdeka Cherbu, Padang Lati, at 7.30am yesterday, Kosmo reported.

He is believed to have been assaulted.

A resident of the area, Yusoff Shafei, 60, said he received a call from a friend about a man found lying near a Honda C70 motorcycle.

Upon arriving at the scene, Yusoff said he found Zakir groaning in pain and immediately contacted emergency services.

Zakir was admitted to Universiti Sains Malaysia’s specialist hospital in Kubang Kerian and was pronounced dead at around 12.45am today.

Bachok police chief Ismail Jamaluddin said Zakir’s body had been sent to the Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital in Kota Bharu for a post-mortem.

The case is being investigated for murder.
