JASIN:
Police are probing a video on TikTok believed to have been generated using artificial intelligence (AI) which could potentially tarnish the image of the force.

Jasin police chief Lee Robert said the video showed two policemen escorting a woman, believed to be handcuffed behind her back, outside a building bearing the sign “Merlimau police station”.

The investigation began following a report lodged by a police officer from the Merlimau police station this afternoon.

He said the report was lodged because the video could potentially tarnish the image of the police and the Merlimau police station.

Lee said the case is being investigated for the improper use of network facilities or services under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and criminal defamation under Section 500 of the Penal Code.
