PETALING JAYA:
A dialysis patient has pleaded guilty at the Seremban sessions court to sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl at a hospital in Kuala Pilah in January.

Judge Kamil Nizam fixed April 20 for sentencing after the charge against Zulkefli Abdul Rani, 60, was read, Sinar Harian reported.

Zulkefli was charged with molesting the victim by touching her breasts at the hospital in Kuala Pilah at around 4pm on Jan 30.

The charge under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and whipping upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Raya Nurul Balkis Zunaidi asked the court to fix bail at RM7,000 but Zulkefli, who was unrepresented, appealed for a lower amount, saying he was unemployed, wheelchair-bound, and required dialysis treatment.

The court set bail at RM5,500 and ordered Zulkefli to surrender his passport and report to the police monthly.
