PETALING JAYA:
The Sarawak state government hopes to achieve zero deaths from rabies by 2030, says state minister Stephen Rundi Utom.

He said the current oral rabies vaccination programme in Kuching would be extended to Serian if results are positive. “If it shows positive results, we will implement it in other parts of Sarawak,” Borneo Post quoted him as saying after a mass vaccination programme in Kuching today.

Rundi, who is state minister for the food industry, commodity and regional development, said the state government emphasises responsible pet ownership and the vaccination of dogs and cats against rabies.

Rundi also urged pet owners to confine their dogs and avoid unnecessary exposure to other animals.
