PETALING JAYA:
Johor PKR chief Dr Zaliha Mustafa has dismissed a news report claiming that Pakatan Harapan intends to contest the Johor state election, expected this year, on its own.

In a Facebook post, Zaliha said the claims are untrue, speculative, and do not reflect the actual positions of PKR and PH.

The Sekijang MP stressed that Johor PKR remains committed to strengthening cooperation with PH component parties in the state to ensure the stability and continuity of the reform agenda for the people.

“Any strategic considerations for the Johor state election will be decided through a structured negotiation process within the party leadership, and will also be discussed at both the state and national levels of PH,” she said.

Zaliha also stressed that Johor PKR’s priority is to strengthen grassroots work with partners in PH, and to support the federal government’s efforts and policies that benefit the public in dealing with global economic uncertainties and rising prices of goods.

“I urge all parties not to make assumptions or spread unfounded claims, as such actions do not help build public confidence in political stability, especially at the state level, or in the ongoing cooperation between parties,” she said.

A news portal yesterday cited a source as saying that PH is planning to contest the state election on its own, with discussions on the matter held among the coalition’s top leadership in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
