Agong presents instruments of appointment to 14 judges

They comprise two Federal Court judges, six Court of Appeal judges and six High Court judges.

KUALA LUMPUR:
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim today presented instruments of appointment to 14 judges during an audience at Istana Negara here.

The ceremony began with the presentation of instruments of appointment to Federal Court judges to Ravinthran Paramaguru and Azmi Ariffin.

Sultan Ibrahim also presented instruments of appointment to six Court of Appeal judges — Dean Wayne Daly, Aliza Sulaiman, Amarjeet Singh Serjit Singh, Radzi Harun, Latifah Tahar and Ahmad Shahrir Salleh.

Six High Court judges also received their instruments of appointment from the King. They were Suzana Said, Yusrin Faidz Yusoff, Arziah Apandi, Gan Techiong, Hazizah Kassim and Suriyati Hasimah Hashim.

Law and institutional reform minister Azalina Othman Said and Chief Secretary Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar attended the ceremony.

Also present were Chief Justice Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh and the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal Syed Danial Syed Ahmad.

At a separate ceremony, Sultan Ibrahim granted an audience and presented instruments of appointment to 17 members of the Penang Islamic Religious Council (MAINPP).

They included MAINPP president Mohamad Abdul Hamid, deputy president Ahmad Shaziy Ismail Bakti, state secretary Zulkifli Long and state legal adviser Wan Nor Sakina Saad.

Also receiving instruments of appointment were state financial officer Zairi Mat Ali, Penang mufti Sukki Othman, Penang police chief Azizee Ismail and Istana Negara religious officer Munir Salleh.
