PETALING JAYA:
A bus driver who ran a red light and crashed into three cars on Jalan Klang Lama yesterday has been arrested.

Petaling Jaya police chief Shamsudin Mamat said the suspect, in his 40s, has been remanded for three days to assist in an investigation under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving, Bernama reported.

“The suspect is believed to have run a red light at around 6.20pm yesterday and crashed his bus into three cars.

“One of the car drivers sustained minor injuries, while the other drivers and passengers were unharmed. The bus driver tested negative for alcohol and drugs during initial screening,” he said in a statement today.

A video of the crash from the rear dashcam of a car that had just passed the junction shows the bus moving at full speed and crashing into the cars that had stopped upon seeing the oncoming bus.

Shamsudin urged those with information on the incident to contact investigating officer Nazar Kasim at 012-5653395, or the Petaling Jaya police headquarters’ operations room at 03-79662222.
