Sivasangari stuns top-seeded Egyptian to enter Grasshopper Cup final

The Malaysian national squash champion comes up tops in 81-minute thriller against Amina Orfi.

KUALA LUMPUR:
National women’s squash champion S Sivasangari shocked top seed Amina Orfi of Egypt to book her spot in the final of the Grasshopper Cup 2026 in Zurich, Switzerland, today.

Sivasangari, seeded No 3 in the tournament, won 11-7, 5-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-5 in 81 minutes.

Sivasangari, 27, who is ranked world No 6, has now won twice against 18-year-old Amina, ranked world No 3, in nine meetings.

She aims to go one better than last year after finishing runner-up to Egypt’s Nouran Gohar in the same tournament.

Sivasangari will meet Japan’s Satomi Watanabe, the second seed, in the final.
