PETALING JAYA:
Police have launched an investigation into the death of a Form 4 student who was electrocuted at the ablution area at a school in Daro, Sarawak, last night.

Matu Daro police chief Rahim Mihos said they were informed about the incident at around 8pm yesterday, with the 16-year-old confirmed dead at the scene, Bernama reported.

He said another victim, a Form 3 student, sustained serious injuries and is being treated at Sibu Hospital’s intensive care unit.

Separately, the Sarawak education department said it had launched its own investigation into the incident and would be looking into safety standard compliance at the secondary school.

“The area where the incident occurred has been cordoned off. Students, teachers and the entire school community are prohibited from approaching the area until it is confirmed to be safe,” it said.
